Achieve Your 2024 Goals, Hopes and Dreams

Happy New Year!

If you started the year with resolutions - or, more likely, vague ideas - about becoming more connected to other people, more engaged with community, and more alive, you have come to the right place!

If you are thinking that this year you want to make the world a little kinder, a little more equitable, a little more real and vulnerable, you have come to the right place!

If you are thinking that you might like to be a better communicator, get a new skill on your resume, or try some totally new activity - you are in just the right place!

Volunteering with FNVW is the way to achieve your 2024 goals, hopes and dreams! I say that only slightly tongue in cheek, because I believe that volunteering is one of the antidotes to isolation that is endemic in the times in which we live. As a society, we are now more distanced from each other than ever before. For many people, it is easy to go through entire days with very little contact with other real humans. Meetings held on Zoom, dinners ordered on DoorDash, friends chatted with on face-time, exercise class on You-Tube, and shopping done online, have all made our lives more convenient, but have also ended many of the usual ways that people have always interacted. Humans are not meant to live this way.

We have the power to create engaged lives that buck these trends. When you volunteer with FNVW you take a step outside all of that, to connect with a deep and warm community of activists and change-makers, crafters, artists and musicians, visionaries and strategists. When you volunteer with AVP you step into a new experience of helping guide others to a better understanding of how to navigate the power structures around them and help spread the knowledge that there really are responses other than violence - while experiencing those same transformations yourself.

We have so many ways for you to engage with us. Tell us what you love to do and we’ll help you find the right fit. Regardless of what that is, you will know that you are making your life and our world a little bit more caring, a little more just, and just a little bit better.

And that’s a great way to spend a year!

Please reach out today to learn more about volunteering. I can’t wait to talk to you.

Warmly,

Great Opportunity to Learn About Direct Action

Those of you who attended the George Lakey events FNVW hosted in the fall may have learned about Earth Quaker Action Team (EQAT). This winter EQAT is offering a series of free online trainings on nonviolent direct action to build the people power, the skills, and the spiritual commitment for their largest mobilization yet in the Vanguard S.O.S. campaign.

These trainings will be great for people curious about nonviolent direct action campaigning generally as well as those who will be joining EQAT in action in southeastern Pennsylvania sometime soon. They'll also be helpful for those who are already participating in collective action in spaces outside of the Vanguard S.O.S. campaign and also those who are thinking about moving their money as part of a climate campaign. You're invited to attend the full sequence of trainings for a richer experience, but you’re also welcome to join just one or a few of the sessions.

EQAT is offering these trainings on Thursdays from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm EST, starting on January 25 and going through February 29Check out all the sessions’ topics and sign up today!

Thank You To All Who Stepped Up

Our end of year fundraising campaign is over and we are so grateful to everyone who supported FNVW with one-time or recurring donations. Although we didn't reach our $55,000 goal and fully erase our budget deficit, we did make it to $43,000 and we couldn't have done it without you!

FNVW is in a strong position as we begin 2024. We're excited to continue to engage new partners and supporters in our critical violence prevention and peacebuilding work.

With that in mind, it's not too late to make a donation if you haven't already. Any amount helps!

Your generosity is an investment in the next generation of nonviolent leaders.
