Welcome Samantha Alexander!
FNVW is thrilled to introduce Samantha Alexander, FNVW's new Volunteer Engagement Specialist! She started this week and jumped right in to assist with Holiday Fair preparations. She is looking forward to meeting everyone in the organization in the weeks ahead. Welcome Samantha!
Note from Samantha: Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Alexander, and I am so excited to be joining FNVW as the new Volunteer Engagement Specialist. I am inspired by the work that FNVW engages in as a social justice organization. I am committed to working towards continuing their mission of a world free from violence and the threat of violence. I have had the privilege to work in different roles in nonprofit and Human Services organizations since 2017. I am passionate about my work, and my love for all people is what motivates me to do the work that I do. I am currently enrolled at Metropolitan State in the Master of Advocacy and Political Leadership program. In my free time I like to read a good book or get outside with my husband and children. I look forward to meeting and connecting with the large community behind FNVW and their work! | The FNVW Holiday Fair is Here!
|
The FNVW Holiday Fair is a special opportunity to embrace the holiday spirit of peace, gratitude, giving back, and loving your neighbors. It's a craft sale and social event you won't want to miss! It's also FNVW's biggest fundraiser of the year. A wide variety of holiday gifts, unique craft items, candles, soaps, handmade winter accessories, discounted gift cards to local businesses, used books, desserts, Quaker Treasures, Christmas trees, wreaths, delicious home-cooked meals and much, much more will be for sale at the fair. Proceeds support local artisans and FNVW's work. Join us as a shopper or have fun as a Holiday Fair Volunteer! Lots of volunteer shifts and roles are still available and we need your help to fill them. Thank you to the Holiday Fair Planning Committee for your passion and dedication!
| Hands for Peace Intergenerational Art Project | | | |
In November, FNVW facilitated a two-part intergenerational art project that explored how we can use our hands to build peace in our community. Students from the Friends School of Minnesota joined seniors at Hamline Hi-Rise to share and create together. Participants really enjoyed the chance to connect! The clay hands for peace that they made together will be for sale at the FNVW Holiday Fair this weekend. Thank you to the Hamline Midway Coalition for funding this project.
A special thank you to Donna Roost for the inspiration and all the organizing work that made Hands for Peace possible! We hope it is the first of many peacebuilding collaborations between FNVW, the Friends School of MN, the Hamline Hi-Rise and the Hamline Midway Coalition.
