| We champion nonviolence as the foundation for effective programs and actions to promote the dignity of every human being. | | | | | Note from Executive Director The Power of People Camp | | | | My heart is heavy this week. Continued police brutality, such as the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, and the ongoing mass shooting epidemic are two examples of how our culture is literally killing us. When I think about the country my children, our children, are inheriting tears spring to my eyes. It doesn't have to be this way. Another world is possible. FNVW's People Camp is an intentional living experience where, for one week, we have the opportunity to experiment with alternative ways of being in community together - ways that are rooted in equity, generosity, and a collective investment in one another's well being. It's a special place for kids and adults alike to grow our skills for being in right relationship with each other and all of creation. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the People Camp community. I encourage you to discover the power of People Camp for yourself summer! They allow me to take charge of my own learning and the things that I want to get out of this internship.” - Zetta Thurow, FNVW Social Work Intern 2022-23 | | | | | "I am excited about the spring semester because once I am AVP certified we will find a way for me to apply those skills I've learned by facilitating or co-facilitating workshops either in schools or prisons. This will translate into the work that I want to do with youth once I graduate.” | | | “My time here as an intern has been so fulfilling, I have grown in invaluable ways in these past few months with FNVW. I have gained so many new skills that will propel me in the future such as time management, professional communication, keeping track of volunteers, managing databases, learning how to conduct interviews, how to coordinate events, learning how to communicate better with people from different generations and cultural backgrounds and all of the amazing skills that I'm learning from taking AVP workshops." | | | | | | Join us at the 2023 People Camp Reunion! | | | | The People Camp Reunion is here!
