I find so much truth in Bob Marley's lyrics. I am uplifted and motivated by all the passionate people in our community who are working to build a better world for all of us to enjoy. This spring, FNVW's participated in or helped organize a number of incredible community events. The photos below offer just a taste of all of the togetherness we've been experience! George Floyd Memorial
4th Annual Rise and Remember

George Floyd Global Memorial (GFGM) and the community at George Floyd Square will host their 4th Annual Rise & Remember celebration at 38th and Chicago in Minneapolis, MN.

Rise and Remember exists to hold in remembrance those we have lost to the pervasive impacts of systemic racism, and to gather people to pursue racial justice and equity. This year at Rise and Remember, we will host our annual Self-Care Fair a candlelight vigil. In the work of racial justice, sometimes we just need a reset.

Come to George Floyd Square on May 25th from 2-6 PM to receive free wellness services including bodywork, meditation, arts & crafts, mutual aid, and more! Then join us at 7:00 PM for a family-led candlelight vigil to remember George Floyd.
Email leah@fnvw.org if you'd like to meet up with others from FNVW at this event!

28th Annual Rondo Community Peace Celebration
June 21, 2024

28th Annual Community Peace Celebration

June 21, 2024, 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Saint Paul, 387 Marion St, St Paul, MN 55103

Get ready to spread the love and peace at the 28th Annual Community Peace Celebration on June 21 at Western Sculpture Park! Join us for a day filled with music, dance, delicious food, and uplifting stories of peace. Save the date and let's make this year's celebration the most memorable yet!

The Community Peace Celebration was founded in response to violence that occurred in the Frogtown neighborhood of St. Paul in 1996, a traveling Peace Pole with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four languages visited 30 neighborhood sites.

In June of 1997, the first Community Peace Celebration (CPC) was held. It brought healing words from community leaders along with music and dance by local performers  - including FNVW Board Memeber John Ewu - to cultivate the meaning of Peace and a shared vision of cooperative relationships.

The CPC has evolved into a network of neighbors, community organizations, local businesses, artists and youth utilizing their superpowers for peace in one space. This powerful convening seeks to disrupt cycles of oppression, violence, and poverty through art, community health, education, youth empowerment, and reconciliation discussions.
