We champion nonviolence as the foundation for effective programs and actions to promote the dignity of every human being.

Note from Executive Director
The Power of Community

People Camp is a week-long, intergenerational community living experience that FNVW holds each year. Last week we celebrated 50 years of People Camp!

Over 80 people cooked together, ate together, danced together, cleaned together, learned together, swam together, did tai chi together, sang together, played together, talked together, listened together, grieved together, laughed together and did life together.

Was it always easy? No. Do I miss it now that I am home? Yes.

At People Camp we agree to live together in a spirit of generosity, reciprocity and mutual responsibility for the wellbeing of the whole. This experience is an antidote to the individualistic, scarcity mindset that is tearing our nation apart.

People Camp is a place to practice living together in honest and authentic ways, even when it is uncomfortable or challenging. It is worth the effort.

Our deepest power to build a just and equitable society emerges when we unify across our differences to create a community where we all thrive. That is what People Camp is all about.

My deepest gratitude to the People Camp Planning Committee and to the whole People Camp 2022 community for our amazing time together.

With Revolutionary Love,
Leah
